Letters to the Editor

Dear friends,

THE LOST PLANET

When I first became a Bahá’í in 1979 (phew...I’m so old!) my brother, Tony Fleming, my mate Dennis Simpson, and my “spiritual mum” Halla, from Iceland, decided to make a model of the world for teaching purposes. We started to make it inside the house but it was too big to get through the door, so we started again. It was huge and we put it on top of Fuad Ta’eed’s car – all heads turned as we went zooming down the roads...it got everyone’s attention. That was over 20 years ago.

Now I’m back in good old Doncaster and I wonder where it is. Someone out there, must know where it is – it’s a bit big to hide – know what I mean! If you’ve seen it, please email me at anneward111@hotmail.com or contact the Journal editor.

Dear friends,

ASSOCIATION OF DISABLED BAHÁ’ÍS

The beloved National Spiritual Assembly has approved the launch of the above on 20th May, 2003.

If you are interested in serving the Association please do contact us.

Dear friends,

THE BAHÁ’Í WORK IN GUERNSEY

The Bahá’í work in Guernsey is hampered by shortage of manpower. We, therefore, appeal to doctors, nurses and teachers to give some consideration to taking up a post here in our island. The States of Guernsey are appealing for all of them and these posts carry licenses for local market accommodation.

Doctors are in private practices in well-equipped group surgeries or modern hospitals. There is no National Health Service. Schools are varied from infants to college. There are many openings in this field and in nursing.

There are also many opportunities to work in the hotel industry although this is often more seasonal and accommodation for families is much more of a problem. Banking is another field where there is a lot of work in the Channel Islands. Bank loans seem quite easy to obtain and allow one to buy into a practice or obtain a mortgage on a house.

Guernsey is a lovely island with an abundance of flowers and trees – magnolia, camellia, palms – a beautiful coastline and a great feeling of safety in life.

If you fit the bill please try and join our community as we are all getting old and in order to continue our Bahá’í teaching work need someone or ones with whom to share the load. There is a lot to do. We are a very active bunch of people.

With love and hope,
Pauline Senior
